Wedding in Alberobello, Italy

How I met my man…

We met at a traditional dance evening in our local village.

Then, he proposed…

He organized a treasure hunt for me, and at the end there was the ring with a little note asking if I wanted to marry him.

Our wedding destination… and why we fell in love with it!

We decided to get married at La Chiusa di Chietri in Alberobello. We fell in love with the idea of celebrating on a lawn, among olive trees and surrounded by trulli. We wanted it to feel like an informal village festival rather than a strict, formal event.

Our wedding concept, style & inspiration…

The whole concept was an outdoor party where everyone could feel free to do what they wanted, without being forced to stay in formal clothes. We wanted a relaxed, joyful atmosphere, just like a village fête.

The best – and the worst – wedding decisions we made…

I honestly feel that all the decisions I made were right and perfectly matched who we are. Everything reflected us completely.
(There wasn’t really a “worst” decision in my eyes.)

My hands-down favorite moment!

I will never forget a moment on the dance floor when all the guests were on their feet and my three-year-old son made everyone dance to a children’s song. Everyone joined in and had so much fun!

The soundtrack of our entrance and first dance!

Our first dance song was “Abbracciame” by Andrea Sannino.
For our entrance, we chose “Volare” by Domenico Modugno, in a folk version.

How I knew this was my wedding dress…

When I arrived at the atelier in Athens, I tried on all the dresses I liked and I truly loved them all, so it was hard to choose. In the end, I chose the one that flattered me the most and suited my body best.

My Zolotas experience, from the first visit to the big day…

I would describe it as a unique experience that very few other ateliers can offer. The owner hosted me personally and was incredibly kind and welcoming. Despite the many kilometres I had to travel, if I could go back in time, I would choose Zolotas all over again.

I would like to thank the following people, for turning my dream into a wedding reality…

Boho Fringe Wedding Dresses: Bold Handmade Couture By Atelier Zolotas

There is a moment when a dress stops being simply beautiful and becomes unforgettable.
This campaign is devoted to that moment.

These boho fringe wedding dresses by Atelier Zolotas are extraordinary couture designed by VG Zolotas, a fresh uptake on the way we view bridal fashion. They move, they sway, they speak of summer and sea air, but most of all they reflect the woman who wears them. Each gown is handmade in organic cotton, with crochet inspired embroideries and finishes that carry a rich Grecian heritage into the present.

This is bridal couture for brides who seek individuality, not repetition. Dresses that become fashion statements.

Boho fringe wedding dresses for distinctive brides

These designs are created for distinctive brides to be, women with a unique sense of style and original character. Brides who do not want a dress that could belong to anyone, but one that clearly belongs to them.

Boho fringe wedding dresses by Atelier Zolotas are ideal for destination weddings around the world. They are light yet structured, bold yet refined, and they photograph beautifully in natural light. Whether a ceremony unfolds by the sea, in a vineyard or on a city rooftop, the movement of the fringe and the texture of the lace create an entire summer mood.

Every gown is custom made for each bride, shaped on her body and tailored to her ideas and vision. No two pieces leave the atelier in exactly the same way.

Extraordinary couture by VG Zolotas

Behind this campaign is the eye and hand of VG Zolotas. His work is διαπνέεται από ελληνικές τεχνοτροπίες, with crochet inspired embroideries and traditional techniques translated into modern bridal couture.

Fringe is not just decoration here. It is cut, refined and constantly reshaped on the model to highlight her silhouette. VG is depicted cutting the threads himself, adjusting every line so that the dress moves in harmony with the body. The result is a series of gowns that feel alive when the bride walks, turns or dances.

Vintage details become contemporary. Couture elements like covered buttons with rouleau loops, precise pattern cutting and strategic transparency are combined with raw, free flowing fringe and bold silhouettes. The brilliance of the designer lies in this contrast.

The dresses: a closer look at the campaign gowns

The Nea top and muslin skirt

One of the freshest looks of the campaign is the Nea top paired with a flowing muslin skirt. The top embraces the boho fringe language with handcrafted texture, while the skirt opens in a bold slit that reveals the leg in movement.

It is a look made for a bride who wants ease and drama at the same time. Soft fabric that catches the breeze, combined with a daring cut and a boho fringe bridal top that feels unmistakably Zolotas.

The Maraya dress: volume, tassels and couture detail

The Maraya gown is all about sculpted presence. Voluminous shoulders frame the neckline, creating a strong yet feminine line. At the back, intricate woven tassels form a striking contrast with the neat couture details of a row of covered buttons with rouleau loops. It is a pure haute couture reference, reimagined through a boho fringe lens.

From the front, Maraya feels bold and modern. From the back, it becomes a moving tapestry of texture and precise craftsmanship.

Fringe skirts made for movement

Several looks in the campaign feature impressive fringe skirts that come to life the moment the bride walks. The fringe is placed to elongate the figure and create a continuous flow from waist to hem. These are boho fringe wedding dresses that invite dancing, spinning, stepping into the night without ever feeling static.

The skirts skim the body without weighing it down, and every strand is shaped to catch the light and echo the rhythm of the celebration.

Ophelia and the ruffle tulle skirt

Another key look pairs a voluminous ruffle tulle bridal skirt with the backless Ophelia top. The top reveals the back with confidence, framed by carefully placed lace, while the skirt builds a soft cloud of tulle around the bride.

There is a delicate tension between airiness and strength. The backless Ophelia top feels modern and free, while the full skirt brings drama worthy of couture.

Callisto and strategic transparencies

The Callisto design plays with strategic transparency in a way only high craftsmanship can support. The halter top contours the body with precision, and the long sleeves are finished with generous fringe that moves with every gesture.

This is not transparency for shock value. It is a careful study of lines, revealing and concealing in the right places, allowing the bride to feel powerful, not exposed.

Hidden transformations for the wedding day

Many of these designs hide secret transformations. A mermaid skirt can turn into a mini skirt. Long sleeves can unclip and become a lighter version for the reception party. A bride can transform her dress during her wedding day, right before the eyes of her guests.

These details show how the atelier thinks about the full arc of the celebration. The ceremony, the dinner, the dancing. One boho fringe wedding dress, several lives in a single day.

Organic cotton, Grecian heritage and modern individuality

All of these gowns are created in organic cotton fabrics, with handcrafted details that honor a Grecian heritage of making things by hand. Crochet inspired work, carefully placed embroideries and structural lines are combined so that vintage references feel entirely current.

The designs by Atelier Zolotas have inspired a new generation of brides who seek individuality. Brides who want to feel free, but also deeply themselves. Brides who are not afraid of fringe, volume, cut outs or bold silhouettes when they are executed with true craftsmanship.

These boho fringe wedding dresses are not trends. They are statements.

About Atelier Zolotas

Since 1972, Atelier Zolotas has created wedding dresses that are entirely handcrafted, using organic Greek cotton and lace, staying faithful to a philosophy of authenticity and individuality. Each gown is custom made for the bride who will wear it, shaped on her body and informed by her ideas and vision.

In this campaign, boho fringe wedding dresses become the language through which that philosophy is expressed. Extraordinary couture designed by VG Zolotas, an entire summer mood, and a clear promise to brides everywhere: your dress can be as original as you are.

Nasia & Ilias https://atelierzolotas.com/nasia-ilias/ Thu, 27 Nov 2025 13:30:49 +0000 https://atelierzolotas.gr/?p=21190 For this Wedding in Spetses Island, nothing was staged and nothing was “by the book”. Nasia and Ilias chose freedom over tradition: three carefree days with friends, their dog Bisky by their side, and a boho ZOLOTAS two-piece dress that was entirely “her”.

Wedding in Spetses Island

How I met my man…

We met eight years ago at work. We worked together and at first we would just chat and joke around. As time went by, we got to know each other better and better, until one day we went out for a ride on the motorbike. Even though it was summer, we got caught in an incredible downpour and ended up completely soaked. That was the beginning of all the beautiful things that followed.

Then, he proposed…

The truth is, there wasn’t a proposal in the classic way. At some point we just realised that we wanted the same things, to continue our life together. It was our own decision, without any drama or getting down on one knee.

Our wedding destination… and why we fell in love with it!

We decided to get married in Spetses because it’s where Nasia is from. We have so many beautiful memories there, many of our friends are there, and every time we visit the island we feel surrounded by a sense of freedom. So there wasn’t much to discuss – Spetses basically chose us.

Details that made your wedding feel truly “ours”…

First of all, we had Bisky, our dog, with us. She could never be missing from such an important moment. But the absolute highlight was Nasia’s brother, who showed up just before the bride arrived at the church holding a banner that said: “Ilias, think it over!”

The best – and the worst – wedding decisions we made…

Honestly, the best and worst decision was the same one: organizing everything ourselves.
On the one hand, it was the best choice because the wedding turned out exactly as we had imagined it, down to the last detail. On the other hand, it was also the hardest, because the whole process involved stress, running around and lots of decisions. But in the end, it was 100% worth it!

Wedding traditions and rituals we included…

To be honest, no, we didn’t follow any specific tradition. On the contrary, we decided to have the wedding exactly the way it felt right to us. We slept together the night before, we didn’t stick to formalities and “musts” because they don’t really represent us.

The only thing we kept was the custom where friends dress the bride and groom. We liked that – it added a personal touch.

The soundtrack of our entrance and first dance!

For our entrance, we chose Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. It took us quite a while to find it because we wanted something relaxed, familiar to everyone and full of good energy. We decided not to have a first dance because we didn’t want anything staged.

My hands-down favorite moment!

They were three absolutely full-on days – friends, outings, swims, drinks and an energy that never stopped. Everything was so intense and beautiful.
But if we had to single out one moment, it would be the end of the wedding, after dinner, when we had a small party just with our friends, exactly as we had imagined it. We had an amazing time, with no phones or videos, just music and lots of dancing.

How I knew this was my wedding dress…

What I loved most about my wedding dress was that it was completely “me”. Boho, in line with my own style and taste – simple yet modern, with a hint of something vintage. The fact that it was made of two separate pieces gave me total freedom of movement and made me feel comfortable all day long.

My Zolotas experience, from the first visit to the big day…

My experience at the atelier was wonderful. The girls who helped me were fantastic – from the very beginning they understood exactly what I liked and what suited me best. The whole process went by without any stress or problems.

I would like to thank the following people, for turning my dream into a wedding reality…

The magic of the handmade wedding dress

In a world that runs at full speed, where everything happens with a single click, a handmade wedding dress feels like a small miracle that insists on breathing slowly.

There is no button, no copy and paste.
There are hands, patience and a touch of madness.
The kind of madness that makes you love something so much that you are willing to create it for hours, by hand.

Why a handmade wedding dress carries a soul

“I have always believed that every handmade wedding dress carries a soul.
Each time I touch a piece of lace, I feel as if I am holding time in my hands.
Not just fabric but time, memory and story.” – VG Zolotas

I remember a bride once told me:

“When I put on your dress, I felt that someone had made it for me,
not just for some bride in general.”

That is exactly the point.
When something is made by hand, it carries within it the person who created it.
Their energy, their devotion, their mistakes and their love.
It is not perfect, but it is real.

Created for one woman, not for everyone

This is a garment created from the very beginning for this one woman.
From the moment it was imagined to the moment she chose it, they were always connected.
And this truth is what makes the difference in a handmade wedding dress.

Handmade is not just better quality. It is a language.
A language that speaks of respect, longevity and identity.
It is a dance between creation and destiny.
A story that speaks of Greece, of the Mediterranean, of the way people once made everything with their hands, because they did not know any other way to put love into things.

Inside the atelier: keeping the handmade tradition alive

When we work in the atelier, this is what we try to keep alive.
We try to remember that nothing real is born in a rush and that everything is made for a reason.

With this knowledge in our hearts, with patience and dedication, every handmade wedding dress that leaves this place is not simply finished.
It is filled with the time, the smiles and the soul of everyone who has touched it.

About Atelier Zolotas

Since 1972, Atelier Zolotas has been creating bridal gowns made entirely by hand, with Greek cotton and lace. Each handmade wedding dress carries the tradition, authenticity and spirit of Greek handmade craftsmanship.

Wedding in Praia dos Carneiros, Brazil

How I met my man…

We met through mutual friends at a gathering at a friend’s house.

Then, he proposed…

He proposed during a trip along the southwest coast of Australia, on a breathtaking beach we had always wanted to visit.

Our wedding destination… and why we fell in love with it!

We chose to get married in Praia dos Carneiros, Brazil. This place holds a special meaning for us. Since we live abroad, every time we visit Brazil, we gather our family and friends there. We love the beach, and this location has been part of our story for years. Paulo’s family is from Pernambuco, the state where the beach is located, which made it even more meaningful.

Our wedding concept, style & inspiration…

Our wedding had a boho and effortlessly elegant aesthetic. We wanted a light, natural, and relaxed atmosphere that reflected our love for the beach and the outdoors.

Oh, my wedding dress!

It was the very first dress I tried on, and the moment I put it on, I just knew it was the one. I tried others, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this dress from the first time I saw it. It felt unique, beautiful, and absolutely perfect for me.

The best – and the worst – wedding decisions we made…

The best decision was hiring a wedding planner! Since we live far from Brazil, planning everything remotely could have been very challenging. Our planner was an incredible help from start to finish, making the entire process smooth and stress-free.

As for the worst decision… honestly, nothing really stands out. Of course, there are always small things that don’t go exactly as planned, but in the end, everything came together beautifully, and we wouldn’t change a thing!

My hands-down favorite moment!

It’s impossible to choose just one! The vows, my little nephew walking down the aisle with the rings, my cousin singing my entrance song, and seeing so many of our loved ones gathered to celebrate with us. Since we live far from Brazil, having so many special people there, sharing this moment with us, was truly unforgettable.

The soundtrack of our entrance and first dance!

My entrance song was Beleza Rara, and our first dance was to O Xote das Meninas. Both are Brazilian songs—Beleza Rara is an axé song by my favorite singer, and O Xote das Meninas is a classic forró. These songs brought a touch of our culture and made the moments even more special.

How I knew this was my dress…

I knew it was the one from the very beginning—I had no doubts. It fit beautifully, felt incredible on my body, and I instantly connected with it. It was exactly what I had in mind for my special day.

My ZOLOTAS experience, from the first visit to the big day…

Sophie, the owner of Zolotas Australia, was absolutely wonderful throughout the entire process. She was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive, making me feel comfortable and confident from the moment I walked in. She truly understood my vision and guided me with such warmth and care, making the experience even more special.

Venetsanos Winery, Santorini Meets Boho-Chic Bridal Couture by Atelier Zolotas

Venetsanos Winery is an inspiring backdrop… Cycladic curves, mesmerizing horizons, the caldera holding its breath. We arrived with a show-stopping gown that leads the scene rather than blends into it: the Alayah dress. Hand-worked lace in organic cotton, cut close through the torso and hips, then opening into a train that unfurls like coastline. No surprise this gowns is part of the Haute Bohème collection by VG Zolotas.

The sleeves make the first statement. Fluid, bell-shaped finishes that drift over the skirt. The first surprise: discreet clips hidden underneath so they slip away the moment the dance begins. Turn around and the back becomes a quiet dare. Deep, sculpted, framed with delicate horizontal lace, finished with covered buttons for a secure, seamless line.

The Dress: Handmade Lace with Statement Long Bell Sleeves

We design for movement before anything else. Lace that reads in motion. Geometry that flatters without noise. Construction you can feel with your fingertips: soft but intricate, breathable, and ready for island weather. The wedding professional teams keep the styling effortlessly curated —sleek hair to frame the neckline, luminous skin for a soft glow, and fine jewelry that echoes the lace without competing with it. A touch of metallic at the feet—strappy gold sandals—adds a modern flash when the gown moves. Every element is chosen to honor the craftsmanship and let the silhouette lead.

Destination Wedding Ceremony Styling

On the terrace of Venetsanos Winery, the Emerald Events team creates magic. And when it comes to the choice of couture, the gown leads and the setting listens. Every team of professional kept the ceremony to essentials, and elevated them: a sculptural floral arch of garden roses and seasonal greens, Bentwood-style chairs in warm wood, and the Aegean as the single horizon line. Negative space does the work. Guests see the silhouette clearly, the sleeves in motion, and the open back framed by the Greek light.

Reception in Santorini Wedding Decoration

After sunset the scene shifts from airy to glowing. A round table curls around a towering floral installation with three crystal chandeliers suspended above it. Crystal stemware, blush and ivory blooms, rose-gold flatware, and candlelight create a soft shimmer. The art de la table is quietly luxurious. Menus sit on layered plates in neutral tones, linens stay textured and light, and the Bentwood shapes repeat to keep the language consistent from aisle to afterglow.
When the night deepens, the first dance happens under twinkle lights and sparklers. Sleeves can come off, the train lifts, and the open back catches every flicker. The reception is elegant, contemporary, and still bold.. just like your wedding dress aesthetic.

Reception Glow: Candlelight, Chandeliers, and the Caldera

As the light drops, the terrace shifts into glow. Candlelight pools along the tables, crystal catches and throws it, and chandeliers hover like quiet constellations. The gown meets this change without effort. Tassel accents stitched into the skirt pick up every note from the music and every gust from the sea; each step writes a soft punctuation across the floor. Keep the sleeves for drifting shadows—or slip them off so the open back takes the lead.

Fit & Movement: Open Back, Train, and Tassel Detail

Fit is a conversation between structure and ease. The bodice holds the torso with tailored precision, then yields to fluidity through the skirt. The train is generous but never heavy; it follows, it doesn’t fight. Organic-cotton lace keeps the touch gentle against the skin and the temperature kind—important when ceremonies happen under an island sun and receptions run late into warm nights. Inside, invisible support does the quiet work, so confidence can do the rest.

FAQ:

Will dramatic sleeves feel heavy in summer?

Our lace is 100% organic cotton, designed for airflow under the Greek sun. The sleeves are convertible. They detach with hidden clips for a lighter look or for the dance floor. Our Atelier Zolotas bridal experts can customize your gown so it feels effortless from ceremony to reception.

How does an open-back gown stay secure?

Internal support, horizontal lace framing, and covered buttons over a hidden zipper keep the line clean and comfortable. Your gown is engineered to follow and support every move—so you can enjoy your day with total freedom.

Travel tips for bringing your Zolotas couture dress to Santorini

Macrame Wedding Dress in an Italian Vineyard: Martina & Antonio

Martina chose ‘Brielle‘ – a macrame wedding dress from the VG Zolotas collection for her Italian vineyard celebration—handmade, Grecian, and effortlessly couture.

A Grecian-chic bridal vision, handmade for an open-air celebration

Under the golden light of the Italian countryside, Martina tied the knot in a handmade macrame wedding dress from the Zolotas Macrame Collection—a one-of-a-kind couture piece that married Greek heritage with modern ease. The ceremony unfolded at Podere Bianchi in Coriano, with hay-bale aisles, live music, and bold summer florals framing the view of vine-draped hills.

From our first video consultation, Martina was clear: she envisioned herself as a macrame bride. Then, she flew from Italy to our Athens showrooms, where the Zolotas craftsmanship—intricate knotwork, organic fibers, and airy movement—spoke directly to her heart.

The dress: Greek heritage, sculpted by hand

Martina’s gown is ethereal A-line couture crafted in organic cotton macrame and soft tulle. The high, Grecian-inspired neckline and open back create a statuesque line, while the artisanal knotwork traces and defines the waist with modern cut-outs. Delicate macrame fringes and hand-twisted cords move with every step, echoing the rhythm of the vineyard breeze.

The architectural macrame motifs reference classical Greek decorative arts—think meander-like interlacing, corded braids, and hand-knotted lattices—translated into a contemporary silhouette. The result is a gown that feels both ancient and future-forward: tactile, whimsical, and unmistakably couture.

Styling notes we loved in Martina’s wedding

  • Hair & florals: a sculptural half-up style tucked with bold blooms and produce-inspired accents—tomato red, artichoke green—mirroring the couple’s abundant Italian tablescapes.
  • Movement: the dress’s fringe and cords highlighted every body move and came alive during the evening celebration… every twirl amplified the gown’s texture.
  • Palette: sun-washed neutrals met vibrant citrus and pomegranate tones, letting the macrame craftsmanship remain the hero.

A ceremony among vines, a carnival of joy by night

The vows were exchanged overlooking rolling rows of vines, with guests gathered casually on straw bales—a scene of effortless elegance. As night fell, the party shifted beneath a striped canopy hung with market lights. The celebration felt like a traveling fête: music, layered cakes, and the bride’s couture macrame moving like silk tassels in the glow.

Why brides love macrame bridal couture

  • Artisanal identity: each knot is made by hand—no two gowns are identical.
  • Breathable luxury: organic cotton against the skin, tulle for weightless volume.
  • Architectural lines: Grecian detailing that frames the body with sculptural precision.
  • Versatility: equally striking in vineyards, coastal chapels, and contemporary city venues.

Vg Zolotas thoughts on International Women’s Day

As women’s rights take center stage year after year, International Women’s Day has never been more relevant. It is a time for reflection, celebration, and hope—a moment to honor the women who shape our world with their strength, grace, and resilience.

Honoring Women in Haute Couture

In the world of bridal haute couture, understanding the essence of womanhood is essential. Vg Zolotas, Creative Director and Designer of Atelier Zolotas, shares his heartfelt thoughts on the significance of this day:

“As a designer, I have the privilege of dressing women on one of the happiest, most love-filled days of their lives—their wedding day. It is a day filled with dreams, and I hope those dreams never fade with time. I hope that their right to self-determination, security, and freedom remains protected and upheld.”

A Personal Reflection on Womanhood

“From a personal perspective, as I watch my daughter blossom into a young woman, I celebrate this day with all my heart. My world revolves around the women in my life, and as a designer, they are my greatest muse—an endless source of inspiration.”

A woman is the canvas upon which the art of haute couture comes to life. Every stitch, every fold of fabric is a tribute to her unmatched complexity and undeniable charm. She is the embodiment of a living, breathing masterpiece—dynamic and ever-changing, yet unwavering in her essence.

The Strength & Beauty of Women

Her nurturing nature is woven into the very fabric of her being—a delicate thread that binds her to the world, enriching everything she touches. Her heart is an infinite ocean of warmth and tenderness, holding within it the dreams and hopes of those she loves.

She adorns life with grace, shaping the world with her unique presence. No two women are alike—each one is a distinct expression of beauty, strength, and independence, demanding admiration.

She is captivating, not just in her form but in the way she moves, in the way she exists—a magnetic force that draws both eyes and hearts toward her. She is cherished in her moments of vulnerability, yet stands tall like a pillar of confidence against the winds of doubt.

Fearless & Unstoppable

Her ambition is a fire burning within, lighting the path toward her dreams and aspirations. Fearless beyond measure, she faces the world with an unwavering spirit—her courage a testament to the boundless power she holds inside.

“In a world that is constantly evolving, I hope women never forget the raw strength they possess within themselves. May they embrace their ever-growing roles with pride and continue to embody all that they are meant to be.”

A Timeless Tribute to Women

On this special day, we celebrate the women who inspire, lead, and shape the world around us. As James Brown once said:

“This is a man’s world… but it wouldn’t be nothing, without a woman.”

Happy International Women’s Day!
